In his Spring Hill, Kansas workshop, Joe Arnold was always searching for fresh ideas that combined rugged charm with functional beauty. One day, while sitting under the shade of an old tin roof at a rustic bar, inspiration struck him for his next creation: the Tin Roof Lamp.

Joe envisioned a design that captured the feeling of sitting at an outdoor bar, the kind with weathered wood, metal accents, and a no-nonsense vibe. The lamp was a reflection of that rugged, manly aesthetic. Its base was built from reclaimed wood, rough and solid, with visible grain and knots that added character. Rising from the base was a thick metal pole, fashioned from dark, weathered steel, giving the lamp a sturdy, industrial look.

But the real highlight of the Tin Roof Lamp was its top. Instead of a traditional shade, Joe designed a miniature tin roof to sit above the bulb. The roof was made from corrugated metal, just like the kind you’d find on old barns or outdoor bars, with a weather-beaten finish that added to its rustic appeal. Beneath the roof, a soft, amber glow spilled out, mimicking the warm light you’d find at a bar after sunset.

To complete the design, Joe included small details that brought the bar concept to life—metal bolts, brass fittings, and a pull chain styled like an old tap handle. The lamp’s overall look was tough and straightforward, perfect for those who wanted to bring a little bit of that outdoor, bar-like atmosphere into their home.

Once the Tin Roof Lamp was finished, Joe added his signature brass plate at the base, engraved with, “Tin Roof – Handcrafted in Spring Hill, Kansas by Joe Arnold, Veteran Lighting.” The lamp quickly became a hit among those looking for something that combined rugged charm with a touch of rustic elegance.

The Tin Roof Lamp was more than just a source of light—it was a nod to laid-back evenings at the bar, where the conversation flows, the roof overhead offers shelter, and the simple pleasures of life shine through.
